Jaén is surrounded by a huge web of highways. The Autovía de Andalucia. Ia II-4 {E-5}. Goes through the province from north to south. The natural pass of Despeñaperros is 40 kms from the town of Bailén, a communications web where starts autovía A-44 going to Jaén and Granada.

Other important roads are autovía A-32 linking Bailén and Linares. Past this last city, the road takes another name: N-322, crossing Úbeda and goes up until the broders with Sierra de Segura before go on to Albacete. The A-316 is an autovía linking Jaén and Martos. The N-432, Córdoba-Granada, goes along Sierra Sur and crosses towns such as Alcaudete and Alcalá la Real.

Jaén is one of the eight provinces in Andalusia. Placed in the north of the community, its limits are a natural border with Meseta castellana and sistemas Béticos del sur. In its core, the lowlands or Guadalquivir river are the most important river area on the region. Jaén limits in the North with the castellano manchegas provinces of Ciudad Real and Albacete. In the South and East with Granada, and in the West with Córdoba.
